Project mp2 (multi-player multi-platform)

 

Description

The objective is to achieve the first ubiquitous multi-player entertainment community. This is an evolution of the current paradigm of multi-player PC games, which will soon be accessible to all wireless devices (GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, WIFI, Bluetooth) and digital TV.

A user who was only able to connect to the community through his computer, will forthwith be able to do so through any other wireless device, i.e. a mobile phone or PDA. This will therefore make the ubiquitous multi-player game concept a reality for the first time.

 

 

Main features

  • Scalable. Can be adapted for any number of users.
  • Fault tolerancy. The users will never lose games in progress.
  • Flexible. It is possible to add new services/games in real-time, in an easy way and without stopping the system.
  • Consistent platform for the development of games independently of the device. This removes the necessity for the programmers to know the differences between devices.
  • High reduction of development time for new contents because the programmers are exclusively focused on developing the visual features.
  • Low adaptation cost for new devices.
  • Completely flexible administration of client services access.
  • Real time monitoring. The monitoring system continuously informs the administrators of different alarms, incidents, etc.
  • Automatic incidents correction system. The system automatically corrects predefined problems, and notifies the administrators.

 

Architecture

MP2 is a compound of four systems: Net administrator, Games Environment, Back-end and control services. The following diagram shows the interaction between them.

 

It is a service-oriented architecture, which allows unlimited growth and flexibility.

 

Benefits

  • Operators. Operators can offer their clients high value entertainment packages. They can make a profit from the GPRS traffic, and gain a competitive advantage over their competitors. This can also be a very useful product from which to introduce new ones, such as IPTV.
  • Web comunnities. Webs which already have a community, can adopt the affiliated option, redirecting their clients to our web page, and sharing the profits generated from these clients.
  • Games developers. The game programmers have a stable base-platform that relieves them of complex tasks derived from working with different technologies. This significantly reduces the time and cost of development.
  • Users. For the first time, multiplayer contents and access to a virtual community from any kind of mobile device will be available to users.
